Job Summary: Assist surgeons during operative and invasive procedures by ensuring the operating suite is fully prepared and all surgical instruments and supplies are monitored and sterilized. Participate in staff meetings and performance improvement activities, and take call as assigned. Maintain a safe and sterile environment by following infection prevention protocols and aseptic techniques. Essential Functions: Interact professionally with patients and their families, providing explanations and reassurance as needed. Notify licensed staff promptly if patients report pain. Adapt procedures to meet the needs of patients across all age groups, from neonates to geriatrics. Prepare operating rooms with all necessary instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment in a timely manner. Handle specimens with care and accuracy. Assist in patient positioning, prepping, and draping for surgery. Complete accurate counts of instruments, sponges, and needles, reporting discrepancies immediately. Maintain medical and surgical asepsis during procedures. Ensure all equipment is functioning properly before each procedure. Respect patient privacy and dignity while addressing psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs. Perform all patient care activities in a manner that optimizes safety and minimizes errors. Education and Experience Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification. Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential or Registered Surgical Technician certification. Preferred: Minimum one year of experience in operating room or sterile processing.
