Position Overview This role is for a licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) who operates under general technical supervision to perform a variety of complex, moderately complex, and waived laboratory tests in compliance with CLIA regulations and accrediting bodies. The professional ensures adherence to laboratory policies and prioritizes safety for all personnel. Key Responsibilities Maintain a safe and clean work environment, including compliance with unit-based safety and infection control protocols. Follow established procedures for specimen handling, processing, test analysis, and accurate documentation of patient results. Perform patient testing efficiently, meeting turnaround time goals while working within assessed competencies. Prioritize workload to ensure urgent tests are completed promptly. Conduct proficiency testing, instrument maintenance, and calibration as required. Implement quality control and assurance measures diligently. Identify and resolve issues affecting test performance or result reporting, communicating with technical specialists as needed. Document corrective actions when test systems deviate from performance standards. Adhere to infection control practices and wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Perform additional duties as assigned. For CLS Trainees: duties are limited to specimen processing and setup without performing or verifying tests or releasing results. Education Must meet educational requirements necessary for CLS licensure. Licenses and Certifications Valid state license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist is required.
