Job Description
Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings.Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.An educational setting in Bryan, TX is seeking two full-time Sign Language Interpreters to support high school students.These contract-to-hire roles involve providing 1:1 interpreting services for students who require assistance communicating through American Sign Language (ASL).Each position requires a commitment of 37.5 hours per week, working closely with students to ensure effective understanding and participation in classroom activities.Key Responsibilities:Deliver 1:1 ASL interpreting services for high school students throughout the school day Facilitate clear and accurate communication between students, teachers, and peers Adapt interpreting methods to support individual student needs and various educational settings Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while advocating for students' communication access Collaborate with school staff to optimize educational experiences for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students Required Qualifications:Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter Minimum EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score of 3.5 Experience providing 1:1 interpreting services within educational environments, preferably high school settings Strong skills in ASL receptive and expressive communication Ability to engage with teenagers and adapt to diverse academic subjects and environments Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with educators and staff Location:Bryan, TX This opportunity offers meaningful work supporting students' educational success while allowing interpreters to develop their skills in a school environment.Interested candidates who meet the qualifications are encouraged to apply to bring effective communication access to high school learners.#p31.
