Job Description
Pew Research Center is a nonpartisan, nonadvocacy fact tank that informs the public about the issues, attitudes and trends shaping the world. It does not take policy positions. The Center conducts public opinion polling, demographic research, computational social science research and other data-driven research. It studies politics and policy; news habits and media; the internet and technology; religion; race and ethnicity; international affairs; social, demographic and economic trends; science; research methodology and data science; and immigration and migration. Pew Research Center is a subsidiary of The Pew Charitable Trusts, its primary funder. The Center’s work is carried out by a staff of 180. Position Description The Digital Producer supports the creation, organization, and publication of Pew Research Center’s digital research content. Working as part of a collaborative, multiplatform publishing team, this role helps ensure that research findings are presented clearly, accurately, and consistently across pewresearch.org and related digital platforms. The Digital Producer plays a key supporting role in day-to-day digital production activities, including content preparation, project management, quality assurance, and documentation of publishing workflows. Coordinating across teams and stakeholders to organize, document, report on, and advance projects are key components of this role. This position reports to the Head of Product Management. This is a term-limited, grant-funded position expected to last approximately 3 years. Primary Responsibilities Digital Content Production & Publishing Support Assist with preparing research content for publication across web and digital platforms Support content formatting, layout, and presentation within the Center’s content management system Ensure published materials meet organizational standards for accuracy, clarity, and usability Project Management Work closely with researchers, editors, designers, and digital staff to define and support publication goals and timelines, including setting meeting agendas, tracking action items, and documenting decisions to maintain forward momentum. Manage production tasks and track scope, milestones, risks, and progress for assigned projects using project management tools. Coordinate updates, revisions, or follow-up publishing needs Quality Assurance & Review Conduct thorough QA reviews of digital content, including links, assets, metadata, and data presentation Identify and help resolve publishing issues prior to and after launch Support accessibility and usability best practices for public-facing research content Documentation & Process Support Document workflows, standards, and recurring production tasks Help maintain internal records of published and in‑progress work Contribute to ongoing improvements in digital production practices Knowledge & Skill Requirements Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Excellent organizational and time‑management skills Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks and deadlines Clear written and verbal communication skills Comfort working in collaborative, cross‑functional environments Technical Skills (Preferred) Familiarity with WordPress or similar content management systems Experience with digital publishing tools, editorial workflows, or research content Experience using project‑management platforms (e.g., Asana) is a plus Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree required 1–3 years of relevant professional experience in digital publishing, media production, research organizations, or similar environments Equivalent experience gained through internships, academic work, or fellowships will be considered FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Compensation: The typical starting salary for this position is $61,690. Hybrid Work Schedule: Pew Research Center staff are required to be present in the Center’s Washington, D.C., office three core days weekly (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday).
