Assistant Director – Licensed Childcare Center Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 9:15 AM–6:15 PM The Goddard School – Independence, OH Are you the person who notices when a classroom needs support before anyone asks? Do you know Ohio childcare rules well enough to help keep a school running smoothly, safely, and confidently? Do you love being part of the energy of a preschool day — the children, the teachers, the families, the schedules, the surprises, and the small moments that matter? If so, we may have the right leadership role for you. The Goddard School in Independence is looking for a dependable, experienced, hands-on Assistant Director to join our leadership team. This position is ideal for someone who has strong experience in a licensed childcare setting , understands the importance of Ohio childcare licensing rules, and enjoys being actively involved in both the office and the classrooms. This is not a sit-behind-a-desk-all-day position. Our Assistant Director is part of the daily rhythm of the school — supporting teachers, helping with classroom needs, assisting families, maintaining licensing standards, and helping the school feel organized, calm, and well cared for from morning through closing time. What You’ll Do As our Assistant Director, you will help support the daily operations of the school while working closely with the Director and ownership team. Responsibilities may include Supporting classroom coverage and daily staffing needs Helping ensure Ohio licensing rules and school policies are being followed Assisting teachers with classroom routines, transitions, behavior support, and best practices Helping maintain a safe, clean, organized, and professional school environment Supporting parent communication in a kind, confident, and helpful way Assisting with schedules, paperwork, classroom needs, and daily school flow Being a visible, positive presence throughout the building Helping guide, encourage, and support our teaching team Stepping in where needed to help the school day run smoothly What We’re Looking For We are looking for someone who is experienced, steady, professional, and comfortable in a busy childcare environment. Applicants must have: Experience working in a licensed childcare center Knowledge of Ohio childcare licensing rules and ratio requirements A strong understanding of classroom safety, supervision, and compliance Confidence working with children ages 6 weeks through 6 years Strong communication skills with teachers and families A dependable, team-focused attitude The ability to stay calm, organized, and flexible during a busy school day A willingness to be hands-on and help wherever needed Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour Benefits Dental insurance Health insurance Life insurance Paid time off Retirement plan Vision insurance Work Location: In person
