Job Description
Position Title: Assistant Director of Accommodations and Accessibility Reports to: Director of Student Academic Success – with oversight from Director of Residence Life Supervises: N/A Primary function: The Assistant Director of Accommodations and Accessibility supports the college’s commitment to equitable access by overseeing the coordination and implementation of academic, housing, and programmatic accommodations for students with disabilities. This position ensures compliance with applicable federal and state regulations, supervises staff as assigned, supports complex accommodation cases, and collaborates with campus partners to foster an inclusive and accessible learning environment. Required Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree, master’s degree preferred, in higher education, student affairs, rehabilitation counseling, social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in disability or accessibility services; Demonstrated knowledge of ADA and Section 504 compliance in higher education; Experience working with students with a wide range of disabilities. This position requires the incumbent to be able to fully embrace the unique mission and identity of the College as a Catholic, Benedictine, liberal arts institution. Essential duties: Accommodations & Case Management Coordinate and determine reasonable accommodations for students with documented disabilities in accordance with the ADA, Section 504, and institutional policies Manage a caseload of students with accommodation needs Review disability documentation and engage in the interactive process with students Coordinate academic, testing, housing, dining, and programmatic accommodations Maintain confidential student records and case notes within the student management system Compliance & Policy Support institutional compliance with federal and state disability laws and regulations Interpret and apply disability-related policies, procedures, and guidelines Assist with grievance resolution and accommodation appeals Participate in compliance reviews and audits as needed Collaboration & Consultation Serve as a consultant to faculty and staff regarding access, accommodations, and inclusive practices Collaborate with Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Residence Life, Wellness Center, IT, and Admission Provide guidance on accessibility for programs, events, classrooms, and course materials Outreach, Training, & Education Develop and facilitate training on disability awareness and inclusive practices Support student education related to self-advocacy and use of accommodations Contribute to campus-wide accessibility initiatives and strategic planning Assessment & Continuous Improvement Collect and analyze data related to accommodation usage and student outcomes Assist with program assessment, annual reporting, and continuous improvement Stay current with legal updates and professional standards in disability services Special challenges and environment: This position may require occasional evening and weekend commitments related to campus programming and student needs.
