Park County Animal Shelter is seeking a dynamic and dedicated person to join our leadership team as the Assistant Director for the shelter. The Assistant Director reports to the Director and focuses primarily on the day-to-day operations of the shelter and management of the staff, while supporting specified strategic programs and activities. Key responsibilities include Operational Excellence: Oversee the daily flow of the shelter, ensuring that animal care meets the highest standards and that the facility remains a welcoming environment for the public. Staff & Volunteer Leadership: Directly manage and empower shelter staff, as well as volunteers, ensuring they have the training and support needed to implement mission-driven programs. Update and sustain necessary procedures and protocols for a safe and successful animal welfare operation. Office Administration: Process bank deposits, submit bills and payroll inputs for payment, and perform other administrative and bookkeeping tasks involving the accountant, vendors, and staff as needed. System Oversight: Leverage the necessary software systems to perform the operational activities of the shelter. Manage staff access and use of these systems and support any reporting needs related to system data. Continually evaluate software subscriptions to ensure effective use of shelter funds for this expense. Donor Appreciation: Engage with the Director and members of the Board when needed to ensure the appropriate form of gratitude is expressed to donors and fundraising sponsors. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following: Completion of a post-secondary education program. Experience managing a team. A minimum of three years in a management position is preferred. Bookkeeping and office administration experience. Proficiency with computer software, including document creation, spreadsheets, and database applications. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to resolve conflict and handle sensitive or emotionally-charged situations. Experience in an animal welfare organization is a plus. Compensation & Benefits: This is a full-time, on-site salaried position. Compensation will be commensurate with experience, with a base salary range starting at $38,000. PCAS offers paid vacation, sick, and holiday time. Please note that as a small non-profit organization PCAS currently does not provide health insurance or retirement benefits. s.
