The Assistant Principal is responsible for assisting with operating the instructional program and providing educational leadership for the staff, students and community. Brief Description This is an 11 month ASASP Unit II Position. High School Grade 3: $106,745 - $161,462 CLOSING DATE: May 12, 2026 Detailed Description To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Assists the principal in leading and implementing a cohesive educational program for assigned students in accordance with the Professional Standards for Educational Leaders: Develops, advocates, and enacts a shared mission, vision, and core values of high-quality education, academic success and well-being of each student; Acts ethically and according to professional norms to promote each student's academic success and well-being; Strives for equity of educational opportunities and culturally responsive practices to promote each student's academic success and well-being; Develops and supports intellectually rigorous and coherent systems of curriculum, instruction, and assessment to promote each student's academic success and well-being; Cultivates an inclusive, caring, and supportive school community that promotes the academic success and well-being of each student; Develops the professional capacity and practice of school personnel to promote each student's academic success and well-being; Fosters a professional community of teachers and other professional staff to promote each student's academic success and well-being; Engages families and the community in meaningful, reciprocal, and mutually beneficial ways to promote each student's academic success and well-being; Manages school operations and resources to promote each student's academic success and well-being; and Acts as an agent of continuous improvement to promote each student's academic success and well-being. Assists in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of instructional programs; Participates in a variety of student activities; collaborates with special services personnel, assists in the maintenance of standards concerning students' discipline, health, safety and general welfare; Assists in a variety of administrative responsibilities, including student transportation, maintenance of buildings and facilities, cafeteria operations, and after-hours use of facilities; Assumes responsibility for the operation of the school in the absence of the principal; Works under the general supervision of and supporting the school principal; and Performs other duties as assigned. Job Requirements The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Ability to create a team that works collaboratively and promotes high expectations for all students; Knowledge and experience implementing curriculum and school operations; Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations; Demonstrates the ability to act effectively under stress; and Excellent oral and written communication skills. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree from an accredited college or university required. An emphasis in supervision, educational administration, or elementary/secondary school curriculum is preferred. A minimum of five (5) years of successful K-12 experience as a teacher or related service provider, including school counseling required and a minimum of three (3) years of teacher leadership experience required. CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Maryland Advanced Professional Certificate; Administrator I Certification required. Must complete Framework for Teaching (FfT) certification within six months of assuming the role. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Evaluates and supervises school staff in the absence of the Principal.
