Assistant Principal Focused on Quality: Committed to Excellence. Supervised by/Reports to: Principal FLSA Status: Exempt Job Goals To serve as an instructional and administrative leader of the school, to work with staff, students and community to ensure a high quality educational program, and to formulate and accomplish the school's mission. Qualifications: Master's degree or higher with a major in educational administration. Valid Alabama administrator certificate. Three (3) years successful experience as a classroom teacher. Comprehensive knowledge of principals and practices of modern education and ability to apply them to the needs of the school. Comprehensive knowledge of current curriculum and instructional practices and trends. Ability to plan and organize effectively. Ability to plan and supervise and evaluate the work of others. Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication skills. Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups, including, but not limited to, students, faculty, staff, parents, and community members. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Knowledge of school law, Board policies, and school system regulations. Demonstrated skill in recruitment, selection, induction and assignment of personnel. Successful previous experience in maintaining effective discipline. Ability to plan and conduct faculty meetings. Physical mobility, dexterity, strength and visual acuity to meet student needs, deal with student problems and address building maintenance problems and school ground monitoring activities.
