Commercial Construction Assistant Project Manager About Martin Industrial Contracting Services (Martin ICS)Martin ICS is a dynamic, client-focused general contractor specializing in preconstruction, construction, consulting, and management services for the energy and refining sectors.Our experienced team delivers high-quality projects for major Fortune 500 companies across the U.S.and internationally.We pride ourselves on building trust, managing success, and executing ground-up commercial facilities as well as interior and exterior renovation projects in industrial settings with excellence from planning through completion.Join a growing company based in The Woodlands, TX, where expertise meets opportunity in the heart of the energy industry.Job OverviewWe are seeking a motivated Commercial Construction Assistant Project Manager to support project leadership and coordination for ground-up commercial facility construction projects as well as interior and exterior renovation projects in industrial (oil & gas) environments.This role is based in the Baton Rouge, Louisiana area and surrounding regions, with some travel required to project sites.You will assist in overseeing projects ranging from $1 million to $10 million, contributing to safe, on-time, within-budget delivery while gaining hands-on exposure to full project lifecycle management in a high-demand industrial sector.Key Responsibilities Support the Project Superintendent and Project Manager in daily on-site and office operations, including coordination of subcontractors, crews, foremen, and field personnel for ground-up construction and interior/exterior renovation of commercial/industrial facilities.Assist in developing, updating, and managing detailed project schedules to ensure milestones are met and timelines are maintained for both new builds and renovation scopes.Help enforce strict safety protocols, participate in site inspections, and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, Martin ICS policies, client-specific safety requirements, and industry standards in high-hazard industrial settings.Support resource allocation and logistics, including coordination of labor, equipment, materials, and tool deliveries with vendors and suppliers to prevent delays on ground-up and renovation work.Assist in monitoring project progress, quality control, and workmanship; help perform inspections and support resolution of issues to meet or exceed client expectations across new construction and renovation activities.Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, engineers, clients, and stakeholders to review plans, process changes, and address field and office issues specific to ground-up builds and interior/exterior renovations.Work closely with the Project Management team to track and monitor project spending; help ensure field and procurement activities remain within the established project budget; assist in identifying potential cost overruns early and support implementation of corrective actions.Participate in daily/weekly meetings, help document progress, and maintain accurate project records, reports, submittals, RFIs, and as-built documentation for all project types.Contribute to a positive, productive team environment while supporting efforts to minimize disruptions in operational industrial settings, particularly during renovation work in live facilities.Qualifications & Requirements 2-4 years of experience as an Assistant Project Manager or in a similar project coordination/support role in commercial construction (required).Experience supporting ground-up construction projects and/or significant interior/exterior renovation projects valued between $1M and $10M (strongly preferred).Strong knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, safety regulations, and best practices for both new builds and renovation work.Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills; ability to support and coordinate diverse teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders effectively.Proficiency with construction management software/tools (e.g., Procore, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam) and Microsoft Office suite.Valid driver's license.Additional safety certifications a plus.Safety Compliance Expectations:Full adherence to OSHA regulations and standards.Compliance with Martin ICS comprehensive safety program, which includes rigorous training, regular audits, advanced safety technologies, and a proactive approach to risk identification, assessment, and mitigation (safety is a core value at Martin ICS--Safety First, Excellence Always).Strict adherence to client-specific safety requirements, including integration with client operations, job hazard analysis, permitting, emergency response protocols, and any additional site-specific rules in active industrial/oil & gas environments.Ability to work in outdoor/field conditions, including industrial sites with potential hazards.Note:Prior experience specifically in industrial (oil & gas, energy, ref
