Job Description Washington Athletics has an outstanding opportunity for Associate Athletic Director for Culture & Community Impact to join their team. The Associate Athletic Director for Culture & Community Impact will report directly to the Deputy Athletic Director for Student Services /Senior Woman Administrator and will serve on the department of athletics senior leadership team. This position is responsible for design, facilitation and implementation of programs that align with ICA’s commitment to an inclusive environment for all staff and students and includes implementing systems that promote inclusive excellence, supporting a diverse staff, and developing educational programming for both student athletes and ICA staff. Key Responsibilities Strategy and Consultation (40%) Serve as a strategic leader and subject matter expert, collaborating with ICA senior leadership group to create and cultivate a common vision of Athletic Department’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion that can be shared amongst staff and students as well as with external stakeholders. Collaborate with the senior leadership team to foster a workplace culture that prioritizes well-being, inclusion, leadership development, and staff engagement. Assist in the development of strategies and processes that promote the hiring, retention, and success of a diverse and inclusive staff. Serve as the lead facilitator for the department’s Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (EIB) Committee, which makes recommendations to the SWA on opportunities to develop and promote inclusive excellence and engagement in the community. Represent ICA in Big Ten Conference inclusive excellence programs and committee(s) as needed. Educational Programs (35%) Provide strategic direction for staff education, training, and professional development initiatives related to diversity and inclusion with goals to build and sustain a culture of inclusive excellence in ICA. Advise, assist, and support the development and implementation of curricula related to student-athlete learning communities, leadership, transition, and career focused programming in collaboration with the ICA Boundless Futures staff. Provide leadership and support for student-athlete and staff affinity groups. Develop program assessment strategies and systems to evaluate the impact, value, and efficacy of programs. Lead Big Ten Conference initiatives around diversity, equity, inclusion, and community engagement within ICA. Partner with the Office of Minority Affairs and Diversity (OMAD) and connect ICA with resource groups, events, and initiatives to support culture, equity, inclusion and community engagement programming for students and ICA staff. Demonstrate and maintain a professional commitment to current best practices regarding equity, inclusion, and community engagement programming for both students and ICA staff. External Support (15%) Advise and support external ICA units (marketing, ticketing, communications, advancement) related to content published on digital and social media platforms with an awareness of inclusion and accommodation of diverse viewpoints. Develop and implement communication plans and strategies to inform students and staff about culture and community impact initiatives and updates Lead crisis communication efforts by developing and delivering timely, thoughtful internal messaging that addresses current events, institutional and issues and sensitive topics through a diversity, equity and inclusion lens Oversee and support the execution of ICA’s social impact and community engagement strategies. In collaboration with identified senior leadership staff, assist external communications staff in determining public response and messaging on a variety of complex, sensitive, and public issues impacting ICA and the University as appropriate. Network with NCAA, Big Ten Conference, and other professional organizations related to growing and supporting inclusion, culture, and community engagement goals and initiatives. Foster relationships with community leaders and partners from campus and the greater Seattle community. Administrative Operations (10%) Conduct regular assessments of effectiveness of programs, policies, and procedures as needed. Provide oversight for ICA professional development programs such as conference fellow opportunities and other scholarship or leadership intern programs.
