Job Description
We are seeking a motivated Associate Attorney with 2–5 years of experience in insurance defense, with a focus on medical malpractice, to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex, high-value cases in a collaborative and supportive environment. Responsibilities: Manage a caseload of insurance defense matters with a focus on medical malpractice from inception through resolution Draft and argue pleadings, motions, and dispositive motions (including motions to dismiss and for summary judgment) Conduct written discovery, depositions (fact and expert), and prepare witnesses for testimony Represent clients at hearings, mediations, and settlement conferences Collaborate with partners, clients, carriers, and experts to develop case strategy and evaluate exposure Review and analyze medical records, expert reports, and liability/damages issues Maintain accurate billing and time entry in accordance with firm and client guidelines Ensure compliance with Florida court rules, deadlines, and procedural requirements Qualifications: Active membership in The Florida Bar (required) 2–5 years of insurance defense experience, with medical malpractice experience strongly preferred Proven experience handling litigation matters independently, including depositions and motion practice Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills Ability to manage a high-volume caseload and meet billable requirements Experience working with insurance carriers and adjusters is a plus Trial experience or trial preparation experience is a plus Excellent communication and client-facing skills Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment Benefits: Competitive base salary Quarterly bonus structure Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off and firm holidays 401(k) or retirement plan options Professional development and growth opportunities Majority in-office environment with potential flexibility for remote work based on experience and performance Interested and qualified candidates should apply today to be considered.
