Primary Purpose Of The Organizational Unit: The College of Arts and Sciences Advising Center (CASA) is home to academic advising for first year students majoring in the College of Arts and Sciences. Our advisors support first year students in the College of Arts and Sciences in their transition to a college environment and teach students how to understand and navigate degree requirements, course options, and support services. CASA advisors encourage students to adopt a professional and proactive approach to lifelong learning and empower students to make the most of their education in a complex and changing world. Position Summary: The Associate Director assists the Director with office management including program planning, assessment, budgeting, hiring, and faculty development. This is a full-time, 12-month position. Minimum Qualifications: Masters Degree in Higher Education, Advising, or a College of Arts and Sciences Department and three years of advising experience in a college or university setting. Preferred Qualifications: Excellent communication skills, experience in coordinating and assessing academic programming, and expertise navigating a range of curriculum and student success software tools. The Associate Director helps implement the Director’s vision, for example, by implementing program assessment, which includes setting SLOs for advising year for the office, measuring SLOs, and working with the Director to develop recommendations for change. Percentage Of Time: 50% Key Responsibility: Advise 125-150 first year CAS majors Essential Tasks: Maintain regular email communication with entire caseload, sharing time sensitive reminders and updates to facilitate student success. Meet individually with every advisee in case load at least once each term. Prepare and file accurate and thorough Advising Records.
