Job Description
Reporting to the Director of Admissions Evaluation & Policy, the Associate Director of First-Year Evaluation leads the development and implementation of UC Davis's first-year admission process, including training, the holistic review process, and verification and finalization of admission offers. The associate director provides direct supervision for a team of three employees, 90-100 seasonal readers, and leads the work of more than 35 admissions team members each year. Functions as advisor to unit and administration. Analyzes and resolves problems, interprets policies (e.g., fiscal management, HR, federal, state, university and local admission policy, resource management, etc.), and is the lead for all aspects of first-year admission to the UC Davis campus. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action. Supervises staff to assure accountability and stewardship of department resources (operational, financial, and human) in compliance with departmental goals and objectives. Works with the Director of Operations and IT leads, ensuring technical resources are enhanced as needed prior to the coming admission cycle. The associate director also maintains a recruitment territory as needed in consultation with the Director of Recruitment. This role is based on the university campus in Davis, CA. The selected candidate is expected to be on campus regularly, though the Undergraduate Admissions team works primarily in a hybrid environment.
