Job Description
Organizational Relationship As an Associate (Mid-level) Biologist, you will serve as a key team member co-managing and supporting habitat restoration projects, biological surveys, impacts analysis (with supervision), and environmental compliance. Show experience in implementing habitat restoration mitigation and monitoring plans and monitoring for habitat restoration success. Must be able to identify common local vegetation types including both native and non-native plant species in a variety of habitats throughout California. Familiarity with botanical data collection procedures (e.g., point/line intercept transects, quadrat sampling, CRAM, wetland delineation), statistical design and analysis, interpretation, and document presentation. This mid-level role requires competence in GIS technologies and drone operations and collaboration with cross-functional teams and clients. This position reports directly to the Operations Manager. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Must demonstrate technical skills in restoration, plant ecology, or botany and demonstrate strong knowledge of California plant species and ecosystems. Ability to implement habitat restoration plans and habitat mitigation and monitoring plans, and associated matrices for tracking compliance. Experience with construction monitoring, compliance reporting, and worker environmental awareness training. The successful candidate MUST be able to identify bird species both by sight and sound. Demonstrate knowledge and experience with federal and state regulations, including CEQA/NEPA, CDFW Code, Clean Water Act, MBTA, and Endangered Species Act. Ability to manage and implement project mitigation requirements, coordinating with project team and construction supervisors, and maintaining schedules as it relates to construction or habitat restoration progress.
