The Role Lumen is accepting applications for an in-house transactional Attorney position providing counsel to enterprise sales associates in a fast-paced environment focused on building the backbone of the AI economy to unlock the world’s digital potential through the fast, secure, and effortless connection of people, data, and applications. The Attorney position is an individual-contributor (with limited oversight from Assistant General Counsel management) providing broad transactional legal counsel to multiple business units, leading complex contract negotiations, drafting and managing agreements, advising business leaders on legal risks and commercial strategies, and ensuring compliance to enable Lumens commercial objectives while protecting its legal interests. From dark fiber networks and AI governance consulting to on-demand connectivity and proprietary threat assessments, this position addresses critical technologies building the backbone of the trusted network for AI. The Main Responsibilities Within Lumen’s fast-paced Enterprise Business sales operations, an Attorney: Evaluates business interests; operational, financial, and technical issues; legal and business risks; and other company objectives to clearly communicate detailed analysis and strategic legal guidance to various stakeholders that responsibly prioritizes and forwards Lumen’s objectives while prioritizing deliverables as directed. Reviews, and finalizes contractual paperwork, including master service agreements, statements of work, and other customized business terms. Structures and problem solves with stakeholders to implement customer-focused solutions and close important transactions, including large-scale high-speed on-demand connectivity and customized professional solutions, including consulting, security, and technical services are routine aspects of transactions. May work with international sales, regulatory compliance, intellectual property rights, third-party resale, and other issues necessary to adequately evaluate Lumen’s strategic Enterprise Business opportunities. Performs file and contract maintenance, deliverable tracking, and contract summaries and interpretations to provide business decisionmakers with meaningful insight to conduct successful business negotiations. What We Look For in a Candidate Required: J.D. degree from an accredited law school. Current license to practice law in state where attorney’s office will be located. Sound business, legal, and ethical judgment. Previous private practice, government, or in-house experience drafting and negotiating contracts. Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills. Time-management and prioritization to efficiently manage assigned workload under minimal supervision. Willingness to be a team player ready to have courageous conversations with others at all levels of the organization to ensure Lumen gets it right. Familiarity with common commercial contracting provisions, such as liability limitations, damages caps, indemnification, etc. Ability to efficiently review and comprehensively identify potential contractual issues, not just legal but also operational, technical, financial, etc. Commitment to professional legal growth through experience, reflection, and continuous improvement. Preferred: Knowledge of telecommunications infrastructure, especially fiber optic networks. Interest in how building the trusted network for AI unlocks the world’s digital potential through fast, secure, and effortless connections between people, data, and applications. Compensation This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors. Location Based Pay Ranges $105,786 - $141,047 in these states: AL AR AZ FL GA IA ID IN KS KY LA ME MO MS MT ND NE NM OH OK PA SC SD TN UT VT WI WV WY $111,074 - $148,099 in these states: CO HI MI MN NC NH NV OR RI $116,364 - $155,152 in these states: AK CA CT DC DE IL MA MD NJ NY TX VA WA Lumen offers a comprehensive package featuring a broad rang
