Job Description
Job Description: A leading utility organization is seeking a Gas Utility Designer to support small gas regulation and regulator station projects. This role is responsible for owning design work end‑to‑end—from initial design through issued‑for‑construction (IFR) and final as‑built documentation. The designer will create 3D models and detailed drawing packages, collaborate closely with engineers and project managers, and support field execution through accurate, constructible designs. This is a hands‑on, collaborative role ideal for a designer who enjoys translating field requirements into high‑quality design deliverables and working independently within a trusted, team‑oriented environment. Responsibilities: Supporting small gas regulation station and regulator station projects (excluding large assets such as compressor stations) Owning design work end‑to‑end from IFR through As‑Built Creating 3D models and drawing packages using CADWorx (or equivalent) Producing fabrication, construction, and as‑built drawings Ensuring correct project classifications and accurate bills of materials (BOMs) Revising and managing drawings throughout the project lifecycle Maintaining document control, versioning, and revision history Conducting site visits to gas facilities to support accurate design development Collaborating closely with engineers, project managers, and operations teams Translating engineering drawings into real‑world field applications Working independently after onboarding, with minimal micromanagement Must Have Skills: 3–5 years of drafting/design experience -Solid hands-on experience creating and revising engineering drawings (not academic, not theoretical) CADWorx (or strong equivalent CAD tool experience) -Must be comfortable with 3D modeling and drawing production. CADWorx is ideal, but transferable tools are acceptable Piping design knowledge + BOM experience -Understanding of pipe specs, layouts, and Bills of Materials, Ability to connect design with real-world components Ability to translate drawings into field applications
