Summary Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Air and Marine Operations, Mission Support - Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) located in San Angelo, TX. Additional selections may be made beyond the total number of vacancies specified using this vacancy announcement. Responsibilities This position will support U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Air and Marine Operations (AMO) UAS Program as an Aviation Safety Inspector (ASI) responsible for representing the Director, Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Acquisitions while executing the maintenance requirements of the UAS and managing the branch UAS maintenance program. This position starts at a salary of $106,437.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $138,370.00 (GS-13, Step 10). GS Salary: Visit this link to view the locality pay tables by geographic area. The National Air Security Operations Center (NASOC), Aviation Safety Inspector is responsible for all facets of a complex unmanned aircraft system maintenance program. Typical Duties include: Directing unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) maintenance sortie generation and repair activities. Balancing workforce availability and skill levels to meet operational requirements. Developing, coordinating, and executing maintenance schedules in support of UAS flight operations. Managing aircraft configuration; daily aircraft servicing, payload, launch, recovery, and repair; periodic aircraft maintenance inspections. Analyzing aircraft maintenance indicators to identify trends and initiating corrective actions. Requirements C
