About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled WS Cloud Database Infrastructure as Code Developer to join our team on a contract-to-hire basis. This hybrid position based in Newark, NJ offers an exciting opportunity to work with a major investment firm, contributing to the design, deployment, and management of cloud-based database infrastructures. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Amazon Redshift, Aurora PostgreSQL, and DocumentDB database administration, along with proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as CloudFormation and Terraform. As a key member of our cloud infrastructure team, you will be responsible for provisioning, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing critical databases to ensure high performance, availability, and security. Qualifications Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience working with AWS cloud services, particularly in database administration and infrastructure development. Deep expertise in Amazon Redshift, DocumentDB, and Aurora PostgreSQL database installation, configuration, and maintenance. Proficiency in developing Infrastructure as Code using AWS CloudFormation and Terraform. Strong scripting skills in Python, Lambda functions, and Step Functions. Experience with database performance tuning, query optimization, and schema refinement. Familiarity with backup, recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery strategies. Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools, especially AWS CloudWatch. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins for automated provisioning and deployment. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose complex database issues. Effective communication skills to collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders. Responsibilities Provision, configure, and manage Amazon Redshift, Aurora PostgreSQL, and DocumentDB databases using Infrastructure as Code tools like CloudFormation and Terraform. Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to protect critical data and ensure minimal downtime. Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing, and schema refinement to meet performance benchmarks. Design and implement high availability and disaster recovery solutions to ensure system resilience. Collaborate with App/Dev Teams to assess infrastructure needs and deliver scalable, reliable database solutions. Monitor database health and performance using AWS CloudWatch and other logging tools, and proactively address issues. Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance for database-related incidents and problems. Develop and maintain documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for knowledge sharing. Utilize CI/CD pipelines and automation tools such as Jenkins to streamline database provisioning and deployment processes. Stay updated with the latest cloud infrastructure trends and best practices, recommending improvements as needed.
