Job Description
IMPORTANT, please read:Please include a detailed description of your prior baking experience when applying.Baking experience is required for this position.Commercial baking experience is preferred, but at minimum applicants need to have a history of regular at-home baking experience and be very comfortable and familiar with both baking and cooking basics, and experienced at following recipes accurately. This is not a summer-seasonal position, it is for 1 year minimum. We are looking for a hard-working, self-motivated Baker to join our crew! In order to facilitate a better work-life balance, we run our shifts at 7 hours each so everyone has energy and time for the other important things in life in addition to work.Each person on our baking team is cross-trained to make all of our recipes, including pastries, dessert bars, pies, soups, Take & Bake meals, cookies, etc.Each team member is also expected to execute cleaning tasks regularly, help with dishes and side tasks, and other various tasks to support the team.HOURS:This position would be approximately 21-35 hours per week (3-5 shifts).This position would include both early morning (4:30-11:30) and daytime shifts (9-4), as well as regular rotation on Saturday mornings (you can expect to work 2-3 Saturday early morning shifts per month).Applicants must be available to flex between the early morning shift and daytime shift on most days of the week between Monday - Saturday, as this role requires some flexibility in scheduling from week to week.PAY:Base rate for this position ranges from $15.50-$17.50 per hour DOE, plus shared tips, which average to $7.00/hr over a year long comparison period.TASKS & REQUIREMENTS:Include but are not limited to:Preparing our in-house baked goods, soups, breads, pies, and other recipes in a food-safe, timely, and consistent manner.Keeping a constant eye on food quality, taste, and presentation standards.Performing basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions accurately throughout each day (these basic math functions are used in tasks such as weighing recipe ingredients accurately, increasing/decreasing batch sizes, taking inventories, etc.) Handling and preparing both raw and cooked foods in large quantities for use in recipes (including meat products).Watching and understanding temperature gauges and other indicators to make sure machines are working properly, and items are being baked/cooked according to instructions.Carefully cleaning baking preparation areas and equipment.Participating in kitchen and dining area deep-cleaning duties, including washing dishes.Working alongside fellow team members in a collaborative, respectful, and helpful manner.Ability to manage time well, including punctuality, efficiently executing tasks, and being careful to look for additional tasks to help with when known duties are finished.Ability to follow systems, recipes, and directions consistently.Ongoing teachability and flexibility.Participation in helping train new bakers as-needed once fully trained yourself.Must be able to stand for long periods of time.Must be able to lift and move 50lbs multiple times per day.(i.e.moving bags of flour, carrying Hobart mixing bowl full of dough, lifting a full pot of soup, etc.) Requires repetitive movements.Must be able to walk, push, pull, lift, carry, twist, balance, stoop/bend, kneel, squat, reach above shoulders, reach below shoulders, rotate head and neck.Must be able to handle, control, and feel objects, tools, controls, and utensils.
