Spirit Made Cakes is seeking a motivated, organized, and hands-on Assistant Manager to support the daily operations of our bakery café. This leadership role is responsible for helping oversee staff, maintaining excellent customer service, supporting workflow efficiency, and ensuring the bakery operates smoothly in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is professional, proactive, team-oriented, and comfortable leading employees while maintaining a welcoming customer experience. Position Summary The Assistant Manager plays a key leadership role in supporting daily bakery and coffee shop operations. This position helps supervise front-of-house employees, assists with scheduling and workflow, addresses customer concerns, and helps maintain cleanliness, organization, and operational standards throughout the café. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Management · Support ownership with daily bakery operations · Supervise front-of-house employees during shifts · Assist with interviewing, onboarding, and training employees · Help prepare and manage employee schedules · Provide guidance, coaching, and support to team members · Address employee questions and minor concerns during shifts · Maintain professionalism, teamwork, and accountability among staff Daily Operations · Ensure smooth day-to-day workflow throughout the café · Monitor staff productivity and customer flow during busy hours · Assist employees during rush periods as needed · Ensure bakery procedures, cleanliness standards, and health regulations are followed · Maintain organization and cleanliness of the front-of-house area · Verify equipment, POS systems, and service stations are functioning properly Customer Service · Maintain a welcoming and positive customer environment · Ensure guests receive prompt, friendly, and professional service · Assist in resolving customer concerns or service issues · Ensure orders are handled accurately and efficiently · Support a high-quality customer experience throughout each shift Inventory & Organization · Monitor inventory and communicate supply needs to ownership · Assist with tracking bakery products and operational supplies · Ensure products are stored, labeled, and handled properly · Maintain cleanliness and organization standards throughout the café Communication & Reporting · Communicate operational updates, staffing concerns, and inventory shortages to ownership · Help improve systems, workflow, and operational efficiency · Document attendance concerns, no-shows, or performance issues when necessary · Support team coordination and operational planning Qualifications · Previous leadership, supervisory, restaurant, café, or bakery experience preferred · Strong customer service and communication skills · Ability to lead in a fast-paced environment · Strong organization and multitasking abilities · Professional attitude with strong problem-solving skills · Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism · Experience with scheduling, POS systems, or team coordination preferred · Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus Work Environment · Fast-paced bakery and café environment · Standing for extended periods · Weekend and holiday availability may be required · Ability to support both staff and customers during high-volume shifts What We’re Looking For The ideal candidate leads by example, maintains professionalism, supports teamwork, and takes initiative to solve problems before they escalate.
