Job Description
PURPOSE:This position principally entails the duties and responsibilities of a bank teller but may also include those of a customer account representative to provide the Bank's customers with account services and transactions adapted to their needs and expectations aligned with the Bank's mission and vision.SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:Receives and pays out money and keeps records of money and negotiable instruments involved in the transactions.Receives checks and cash for deposits, verifies amounts, examines checks for proper endorsements, and issues receipts.Cashes checks and pays out money upon verification of signature and customer balances.Explains and sells additional services to customers; prepares and posts data to pertinent documents, logs, and forms.Balances daily transactions and cash drawer.Verifies the OFAC status of the non-customer transactions.Complies with Currency Transaction Reporting as needed and when requested.Completes all required compliance trainings, including those related to the Bank Secrecy Act.Fully embraces and commits to the Core Desjardins Values and Behaviors to Always Do What's Best for Our Members and Clients.RELATED ACCOUNT AND AUTOMATION DUTIES Issues Debit cards and explains to the customers how to properly use them.Attends to and helps resolve Debit cards problems when they arise.Promotes and advises the use of all automated products including Online Banking, Mobile banking, E-Statements, Desjardins debit and credit cards.Instructs customers how to use the various mobile banking applications on Apple and Android smartphones and tablets.Assists customers in scheduling account openings with the CSR.Performs a variety of other duties to assist customers with requests or complaints.Assists members of the Desjardins Network to ensure a smooth transition their financial activities between the Canadian network and the Desjardins Bank operations.Informs customers on the particularities of the products and services offered by the Bank in the United States.Points out to members of the Desjardins network all differences between the Canadian operations of Desjardins and the services offered by the U.S.subsidiary.SUPERVISION:The incumbent reports to the Customer Experience Manager.CONTACTS:Contact with consumers.Interaction with various other employees of the bank, including other Customer Experience Agents, Management and managerial staff.DESIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES/OTHER REQUIREMENTS AND Experience:Bilingual in French and English, (written and oral).Previous cash handling, drawer balancing, and teller experience preferred.Knowledge of current issues related to the Desjardins Group clientele base helpful.Experience in both Canadian and American banking industry helpful.Business and customer oriented.Demonstrates persistence, a positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, and team spirit.Excellent communication skills and an aptitude for one-on-one discussions.Excellent organizational and time management skills.Ability in applying and interpreting organization policy and regulations.Must be available to travel to the main branch in Hallandale if needed to replace other Customer Experience Agents.EDUCATION:High School Diploma or equivalent.American Institute of Banking or Financial Training Center Certificates in General Banking or Tellering is desirable.PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Ability to move freely and quickly to all areas of the Bank and accompany customers physically to the convenience computer, ATM, or other stations as needed.Speech ability to communicate clearly both over the phone and in person.Hand and wrist dexterity to use computer keyboard and mouse, and telephone, to handwrite documents, distribute mail and other documents.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.THIS POSITION'S SPECIFICATIONS SHOULD NOT BE CONSTRUED TO IMPLY THAT THESE REQUIREMENTS ARE THE EXCLUSIVE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION.INCUMBENT WILL FOLLOW ANY OTHER INSTRUCTION, AND PERFORM ANY OTHER RELATED DUTIES, AS MAY BE REQUIRED BY THEIRSUPERVISOR.DESJARDINS BANK, N.A.IS AN EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER Hours per week:30-39 Job Type:Full-time Pay:From $22.00 per hour Benefits:401(k) 401(k) 4% Match Dental insurance Employee assistance program Health insurance Life insurance Paid sick time Paid time off Vision insurance Physical Setting:Office Experience:Cash handling:1 year (Required) Banking:1 year (Preferred) Customer service:1 year (Preferred) Language:French (Required) Work Location:In person.
