As a vital support to our bartenders and service staff, you’ll ensure the bar area remains clean, well-stocked, and organized, enabling smooth operations during busy nights and special events. This role offers a dynamic environment where your proactive attitude and attention to detail will shine, contributing to the lively atmosphere of our kava bar. All positions are paid with opportunities to grow within Kavana. Responsibilities Maintain cleanliness of the kava bar area, including washing shells and glassware, sanitizing surfaces, and restocking supplies regularly throughout shifts Prepare and serve kava, tea beverages, and other alcohol-free specialty drinks according to house recipes and quality standards Assist in light food preparation such as garnishing drinks and preparing simple snacks or accompaniments Restock kava, teas, botanical ingredients, syrups, cups, and other essentials to ensure smooth service flow Support lounge operations by bussing tables, clearing used dishes, and maintaining a relaxed, welcoming environment Operate POS systems for processing beverage and retail sales accurately and efficiently Handle cash and card transactions responsibly and assist with opening/closing register duties Educate guests on kava, botanical offerings, and the benefits of an alcohol-free social space Communicate effectively with team members and guests to create a positive, community-focused atmosphere and help out your bartender with whatever he/she may need Experience Previous experience in a kava bar, a regular bar, coffee shop, tea house, lounge, restaurant, or hospitality environment is highly desirable Familiarity with safe food and beverage handling practices Experience using POS systems for food and beverage transactions preferred Strong customer service skills with the ability to create a welcoming, laid-back atmosphere Barista, smoothie bar, or kitchen experience is a plus Comfortable working in a fast-paced, social environment while maintaining professionalism Interest in wellness, plant-based beverages, the kava community, or alcohol-free social spaces is highly encouraged Pay: From $18.00 per hour Benefits Employee discount Paid training Work Location: In person
