Job Title: Barista/Host Person Location: Heard Museum Full/Part Time: Part Time Schedule: Thursday to Sunday Availability required. Job Description Summary: The Heard Museum Cantina Courtyard Café is looking for an enthusiastic, energetic barista/host person to join our team. Customer service oriented people with barista experience preferred but we are happy to train the right person. Prior food and beverage experience is a must. This part time position is days only, Thursday to Sunday availability needed. This job requires long periods of standing, bending, lifting, handling money and food and beverage preparation. Shifts as the host/hostess at the café, as well as some catering shifts are also available. The Barista/Host position is responsible for preparing and serving coffee, tea, and other beverages; assisting with light food preparation; and providing excellent customer service to guests. This position is also responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming environment, handling cash transactions, and supporting catering events as needed. In addition, this position ensures proper setup, operation, and shutdown of equipment and may perform hosting duties during cafe services. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Operate, warm up, and shut down coffee and café equipment. Prepare and serve coffee, tea, and other beverages. Assist with light food preparation, such as making sandwiches and baking pastries. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including counters, sinks, dishes, cutlery, and equipment. Monitor and check food and syrup expiration dates; ensure proper refrigeration of food and beverages. Arrange and reset tables and chairs to maintain a welcoming café environment. Handle cash transactions, reconcile cash drawers, and follow proper money-handling procedures. Support catering shifts and assist with hosting duties as needed. Employment Requirements: Background check required Work authorization (Required) Previous Experience: 1 year of food and beverage experience required. Previous barista experience preferred. Day Shift availability required. Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday availability required. Able to work some evening events required. Education: High School degree required. Important Aspects: Ability to work cooperatively and independently to provide great service experience. Strong customer service skills with friendly and positive attitude. Ability to stand, bend, and lift for extended periods of time. Prior POS experience preferred. Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
