Join our team at our Minneapolis location in the charming and historic Mill District neighborhood. This is a Sherman Associates owned Hilton franchised location. The Bartender position plays a major role in the hotel's Food & Beverage experience. The Spirit to Serve is a key element in a positive experience. Consistency is critical, which is achieved by always following drink recipes. Bartender must be friendly, courteous, and serve others in a professional manner. Must be able to multi-task, think and act quickly and effectively while maintaining self-composure. Schedule : We are currently seeking part-time Monday - Friday day time availability. Pay: $16.37/hour + Tips Essential Functions Maintains complete knowledge of hotel's food and beverage preparation. Up-sells alcohol and food items. Uses a computer to accurately ring orders on a check. Accepts different types of payment and makes accurate change. Completes specific side-work and ensures the total cleanliness and smooth operation of the restaurant. Quickly clears and resets tables. Maintains inventory of bar materials including, but not limited to: wine, beer, and spirits. Checks identification of guests to ensure they are of legal age to consume alcoholic beverages. Refuses to serve beverages in a polite manner to guests who are not of legal age. Observes behavior, counts number of drinks served that contain alcohol, elevates to manager for intervention as needed. Maintains knowledge of and adheres to Food Handlers guidelines. Completes other tasks and duties as assigned based on business needs. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Previous hotel/hospitality or related service industry experience is strongly preferred. Must be able to pass required Alcohol service training. Must be at least 18 years of age. Required Skills & Abilities A passion for the mission, vision, and values of Sherman Associates. Schedule may vary due to the specific needs of the hotel. WORK ENVIRONMENT This job operates behind the bar and may be working in close proximity to co-workers. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Hazards may include, but are not limited to, cuts, slipping and tripping. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Must be able to sit or stand in designated work area throughout the day based on business needs. Must have the ability to move around freely throughout the designated work area. Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach tables and kitchen in a timely manner. Must be able to lift up to 25-30 lbs. frequently throughout shift, and lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. occasionally. Requires grasping, writing, sitting or standing, moving about freely, using computer, repetitive motions, bending, reaching, crouching, and communicating effectively. Must be willing and able to wash hands frequently throughout the shift. ADDITIONAL SCREENING REQUIREMENTS Must successfully meet criminal background screening requirements for position.
