Job Description
The Preble County ESC is seeking highly qualified candidates to fill the role of full-time Behavior Support Coach. Duty Days: 200 Salary: Commensurate with experience on the certificated salary scale plus additional 10% Descrition: Support school districts to help educators work on behavioral challenges in the classroom. The behavior support coach will provide coaching and professional development, which may include data review and analysis, classroom observations, modeling, and providing feedback. The coach will support educators in the identification and understanding of social-emotional learning needs, classroom behavior expectations and strategies, and support review of data and monitoring progress for improvement. Essential Functions Support district staff through coaching, modeling, and feedback on the implementation of social-emotional learning that meets district-wide expectations Ensure safety of students Assist districts with the gathering, examining and analysis of data to identify behavioral concerns for students in the district PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) framework Maintain accurate and complete records as required In collaboration with a district team, the coach can facilitate, and provide professional development in classroom strategies to support social-emotional and behavioral needs Maintain respect at all times for confidential information, e.g., student IEPs, testing information, student and staff information Observe ethics of the teaching profession, exhibit professional behavior, emotional stability, and sound judgment Regularly communicate with district staff and administrators Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversation Keep current on research based instructional strategies and best practices with an emphasis on student social-emotional learning Assist staff in implementing behavior support plans and behavior intervention plans Interact in a positive manner with staff, students and parents Provide deescalation training to staff in districts Know the current laws and regulations regarding student behavior, interventions and placement Attend meetings and trainings as required Other Duties And Responsibilities Interact with public in official capacity when required Attend meetings as necessary Build strategic alliances and relationships with school districts, PCESC and other local/regional partners Respond to inquiries and questions in a timely, appropriate manner Establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology or related field Valid Ohio State Board of Education credential Successful experience working with students with social-emotional, mental health and behavioral needs Possess or obtain Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification to be trainer Possess a valid driver's license Pass appropriate BCI/FBI background check Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board may find appropriate Required Knowledge, Skill And Abilities Working knowledge of an ability to operate a computer and Google Workspace/Microsoft Office Applications, with an ability to become familiar with emerging programs and software Ability to maintain confidentiality of corporate information Ability to maintain accurate records and files Strong organizational, project management and problem solving skills Exceptional interpersonal skills Understanding of the local educational systems Strong knowledge of the impacts of trauma and trauma informed practices Ability to work effectively with others Knowledge of the MTSS framework (academic and behavior) to support staff with at-risk students Excellent communication skills, must be comfortable to interface with multiple groups of people, develop positive relationships and partnerships Experience in public speaking to small and large audiences Must demonstrate a mature, professional demeanor and proven ability to work well in a fast-paced and collaborative work environment Must be capable of leading when appropriate, working flexible times, be a self-starter, and have the ability to work with little supervision Working knowledge of intervention strategies, instructional methods learning theory, laws, rules and regulations of acceptable behavioral intervention Working knowledge of developmental processes of students Ability to organize and analyze data to make instructional/implementation decisions HIPAA compliance Meet all health requirements as mandated by law Additional Working Conditions Occasionally lift and carry various items up to a maximum of 50 lbs.
