Behavioral Health Technician

Brief Description CRi is a well-known non-profit organization located throughout Northern VA, Richmond VA , and Maryland that is dedicated to providing quality services to enable individuals with a wide range of disabilities to live as independently as possible. Position Summary The Behavioral Health Technician plays a crucial role in providing specialized care and support for individuals with mental health disorders in our Mental Health Group Home. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, the BHT ensures the well-being, safety, and rehabilitation of individuals. Principal Duties And Responsibilities Provide direct care and supervision to individuals with mental health needs in a compassionate and therapeutic manner. Implement and monitor treatment plans in collaboration with the clinical team. Employ de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies. Administer medications per protocol and monitor responses. Facilitate therapeutic group activities, counseling sessions, and skill-building exercises. Maintain accurate documentation and progress notes. Ensure safety and security by following established protocols. Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, and other team members. Requirements Minimum Qualifications: Associate degree. Registered or eligible for registration with the Virginia Board of Counseling as a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT). Evidence of completion of 40 hours of didactic education in a program recognized or approved by the board. Previous experience in behavioral health, residential, or human services preferred. Valid driver’s license with good record. Ability to manage crises, communicate effectively, and perform physical interventions if needed. Physical Demands Requires light and/or heaving lifting, repetitive bending, sight, hearing, and ability to move with ease. Working Environment Residential setting, indoor and outdoor program site and various community locations. Superivision Exercised None.
