We are excited to announce a new Forensic Mental Health program is opening in our Richmond location! We are hiring Full Time & Part Time OVERNIGHT Behavioral Health Technicians and Behavioral Health Technicians Assistants! The Behavioral Health Technician in our Mental Health Forensic Group Home plays a crucial role in providing specialized care and support for individuals with mental health disorders within a forensic setting. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, the Behavioral Health Technician ensures the well-being, safety, and rehabilitation of individuals of whom may have a history of involvement with the criminal justice system. OVERNIGHT Schedules Available in the following zip code: 23236 Monday - Thursday 11pm-9am (40hrs) $20/hr Friday - Sunday 11pm-9am (30hrs) $22/hr Principal Duties And Responsibilities Client Care Provide direct care and supervision to individuals with mental health disorders in a compassionate and therapeutic manner. Implement and monitor treatment plans as outlined by the clinical team, ensuring individualized needs are met. Behavioral Management Employ de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies to manage challenging behaviors. Collaborate with the clinical team to assess and address behavioral concerns, promoting a therapeutic and supportive environment. Medication Administration Administer prescribed medications as per established protocols, ensuring accuracy and adherence to medication schedules. Monitor and document individual's responses to medication, promptly reporting any side effects or concerns to the nursing and medical staff. Therapeutic Support Assist in facilitating therapeutic group activities, counseling sessions, and skill-building exercises to promote social and emotional development. Collaborate with mental health professionals to implement evidence-based interventions and treatment modalities. Documentation and Reporting Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of individual's interactions, treatment plans, and progress notes. Report significant changes in resident's behavior, mental health status, or any incidents promptly to the supervisory team. Collaborative Teamwork Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, and other team members as well as external providers to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care. Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and training sessions to enhance professional development. Safety and Security Implement safety protocols and procedures to maintain a secure environment. Conduct regular checks of the facility to identify and address any potential safety hazards. Crisis Response Respond effectively to emergencies and crises, following established protocols and ensuring the safety of individualized and staff. Requirements Minimum Qualifications Required (FOR BHT): Associate degree. Registered or eligible for registration with the Virginia Board of Counseling as a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT). Evidence of completion of 40 hours of didactic education in a program recognized or approved by the board. Previous experience in behavioral health, residential, or human services preferred. Valid driver’s license with good record. Ability to manage crises, communicate effectively, and perform physical interventions if needed. Minimum Qualifications (For BHT- A) Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred. Evidence of completion of 20 hours of didactic education in a program recognized or approved by the board. Registration: Must be registered (or eligible for registration) with the Virginia Board of Counseling as a Behavioral Health Technician Assistant (BHT-A) per SB403 guidelines. Experience: Previous experience in human services, mental health, or residential care preferred but not required. Other Requirements Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
