Benefits Broker for Group Health Insurance Job Description We are seeking a licensed, knowledgeable, relationship-driven Benefits Broker specializing in Small Group Health Insurance to of business (Small Group). Brokers support employers in renewing contracts, designing, implementing, and managing employee benefits programs. A benefits broker consults with clients (small employers) on health insurance options (plans, rates, networks), advantages & disadvantages, compliance and Underwriting requirements. The ideal candidate is adaptable, organized, and able to manage a high-volume workload while maintaining exceptional client service standards. Must demonstrate professionalism, sound judgment, and strong communication skills, and are sales-oriented and consultative, with experience in group medical benefits, carrier relations, and employer support. Responsibilities Client Consultation & Sales Develop and maintain relationships with employer groups and key decision-makers. Consult clients on group health insurance options, ancillary benefits, and cost-saving strategies. Conduct benefits reviews, needs analyses, and renewal presentations. Prepare and present customized benefit proposals, online platforms and plan comparisons. Benefits Administration Assist clients with plan implementation, renewals, enrollments, and employee communications. Coordinate open enrollment meetings and employee education sessions. Support clients with eligibility changes, billing inquiries, and claims escalations. Maintain accurate client records and documentation. Carrier & Compliance Management Build strong, respectful relationships with insurance carriers and vendor partners. Stay current on industry trends, carrier products, compliance regulations, and legislative updates including: ACA COBRA HIPAA ERISA Section 125 regulations Ensure benefit plans and recommendations align with employer compliance requirements. Reporting & Analysis Analyze utilization reports, renewal data, and rate comparisons. Provide strategic recommendations to improve plan performance and control costs. Prepare professional reports, spreadsheets, and client presentations. Consult clients on group health insurance options, ancillary benefits, and cost-saving strategies. Conduct benefits reviews, needs analyses, and renewal presentations. Prospect and generate new business opportunities through referrals, networking, and community outreach. Prepare and present customized benefit proposals and plan comparisons. Qualifications Current Health & Life Insurance License required. 2+ years of experience in group health insurance, employee benefits, or brokerage services preferred. Strong knowledge of medical, dental, vision, life, and voluntary benefits products. Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Ability to manage multiple client accounts and deadlines simultaneously.
