Billing & Collections Clerk Posted on:February 9, 2026 About the Role We're looking for a detail-oriented Billing & Collections Clerk to support our billing department with account review, collections, insurance follow-up, and payment processing experience.This position plays an important role in ensuring accurate billing and maintaining positive communication with patients and insurance carriers.Position Summary The Billing & Collections Clerk is responsible for supporting the organization's billing operations by ensuring accurate account management, timely collections, and effective communication with patients and insurance carriers.This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Billing & Account Review Review monthly patient statements for accuracy prior to distribution Process and maintain the Sliding Fee Scale for eligible patients Verify required documentation and update patient billing records Collections Conduct monthly collection calls to patients with outstanding balances Document all collection activities and payment arrangements Prepare and submit monthly collection reports to Grant Mercantile Insurance & Claims Support Perform insurance follow-up on outstanding claims Communicate with insurance carriers regarding claim status and details Assist with claims processing as needed Payment Processing Process credit card payments and maintain accurate transaction logs Ensure compliance with payment security and confidentiality standards Administrative Support Maintain organized billing files and documentation Provide professional and courteous customer service to patients & staff Support the billing team with additional tasks or projects as assigned QUALIFICATIONS Required High School diploma or equivalent Experience in billing, collections, or administrative support Strong attention to detail and accuracy Clear and professional communication skills Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines Basic proficiency with billing software and Microsoft Office PREFERRED Experience in healthcare or clinic setting Knowledge of insurance billing and claims processes Familiarity with Sliding Fee Scale programs WORK ENVIRONMENT Office or clinical administrative setting Regular interaction with patients, billing staff, and insurance representatives Requires discretion and adherence to confidentiality standards Experience:1-2 year's experience (Required) Ability to Commute:Red Bluff, CA 96080 (Required) Ability to Relocate:Red Bluff, CA 96080:Relocate before starting work (Required) Work Location:In person Job Type:Full-time Benefits:Dental insurance Employee assistance program Health insurance Life insurance Paid time off Retirement plan Vision insurance Work Location:In person Job Type:Full-time Pay:$22.00 per hour Expected hours:40 per week Benefits:Dental insurance Employee assistance program Health insurance Life insurance Paid time off Retirement plan Vision insurance Work Location:In person.
