Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Billing Manager to lead our billing operations and ensure the accuracy, efficiency, and compliance of our revenue cycle processes. In this vital role, you will oversee the entire billing function, manage a team of billing specialists, and collaborate cross-functionally to optimize financial performance. Your expertise in accounting software, medical billing, governmental and non-profit accounting, and financial concepts will drive the success of our billing department. Responsibilities Oversee the end-to-end billing process, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and revenue cycle management across various sectors such as healthcare, non-profit, or governmental organizations. Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), and other regulatory standards by implementing robust internal controls and audit procedures. Manage and reconcile journal entries, account analysis, and account reconciliation activities using accounting software such as Sage, PeopleSoft, QuickBooks, or similar platforms. Supervise medical billing operations involving CPT coding (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-10 coding (International Classification of Diseases), medical terminology, and medical collection processes. Conduct data entry with high accuracy using 10-key typing skills while maintaining meticulous records for audit purposes. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including finance, compliance, and customer service to resolve billing discrepancies promptly. Lead negotiation efforts with clients or vendors regarding billing disputes or payment terms to optimize cash flow. Skills Strong knowledge of financial concepts including debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, and account analysis. Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage, PeopleSoft, QuickBooks, Quicken, or similar systems; experience with financial software is essential. Familiarity with SOX compliance requirements and public accounting standards to ensure audit readiness. Experience in healthcare billing including CPT coding, ICD-10 coding, medical terminology, and medical collection processes. Expertise in governmental accounting practices and non-profit accounting procedures. Excellent analysis skills for account reconciliation and financial data interpretation. Effective negotiation skills coupled with strong phone etiquette for customer service interactions related to billing inquiries or disputes. Ability to handle complex technical accounting tasks such as revenue recognition and analysis of financial statements within diverse industries like healthcare or government services.
