Ecocyte Bioscience is a small biotechnology company that sells and distributes Xenopus Laevis oocytes and oocyte services (including contract research) to public and private research facilities. It is located in South Austin, Texas. In this role you will need to perform minor surgeries on specimens so this will require excellent fine motor skills. We are happy to train you and work one on one to teach you anything you might need assistance with. The lab specializes in electrophysiological testing and preparation, selling laboratory chemicals and solutions, and the manufacturing and distribution of electrophysiological equipment. Check us out at www.ecocyte-us.com . About the position: This position is for Mondays and Wednesdays 7AM until we have completed the orders but not past 5PM. Laboratory Technicians will be responsible for preparing and shipping Xenopus oocytes on Mondays and Wednesdays. This will include being able to perform surgery on frogs, making solutions, using a microscope and a pipette, and prepare packaging and packing the oocytes for shipment. In addition, you will also be involved in taking care of our frog vivarium, which includes cleaning tanks, feeding frogs, checking water levels and temperatures, and updating the frog datasheets. A science college degree preferred but not required, as this is a great chance for students or recent grads to get their hands into a real laboratory setting. A willingness to learn is essential. We are looking for an individual who is a team player, has good communication skills and a positive attitude. Opportunity for growth within the company based on assessment. Laboratory Hours: The lab is open from 7 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday. Preparation days are Mondays and Wednesdays 7:00 am to 5 pm latest.
