HELP WANTED – PART-TIME BOOKKEEPER At Jacob’s Well , a Baltimore nonprofit, has provided supportive and transitional housing for homeless, mentally ill residents for more than 40 years. Our mission is “to promote dignity, accountability and self-esteem in order to improve the quality of life and residential stability of our clients.” Established in 1985 and incorporated in 1986, At Jacob’s Well (AJW) works to end the cycle of homelessness for mentally ill men and women by providing them supportive housing that promotes their dignity and recognizes their individual accountability. Our program provides transitional and subsidized housing for 37 residents. At Jacob’s Well does not provide medical or mental health care directly. Instead, our case management staff links our residents to the network of health care and other services that are available to them in the community. We are now seeking a part-time bookkeeper who will report to our Executive Director and will assist with the financial management of our small non-profit. In this role, you will be responsible for tracking financial operations and preparing financial statements for use by the staff and board. This position requires a proactive, tech-savvy team person who is comfortable working both independently and collaboratively. This is an ideal position for someone who has a full-time position and wants to earn some extra money part-time. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The duties of the Part-Time Bookkeeper are: · Maintain accurate financial records in QuickBooks Online, including transaction coding, reconciliations, and journal entries · Enter and manage Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) invoices · Prepare standard and custom financial reports, such as Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet statements · Maintain and update balance sheet schedules, including depreciation, leases, and prepaids · Analyze financial statements and explain discrepancies to the Executive Director · Collaborate closely with the Executive Director and other team members as a dependable and communicative team player · Provide information as needed for bi-annual audit. QUALIFICATIONS · 3–5 years of experience in bookkeeping and/or accounting (minimum of 2 professional references required) · Proficiency in QuickBooks Online · Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting · Experience in working with depreciation for housing units. · Proficiency in Office 365 (Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.) · Ability to work independently with attention to detail, confidentiality, and strong organizational skills · Willingness to work in-person in the office as needed; most work will be remote. · Availability to work 5-8 hours per week , with potential for more depending on workload and time of month COMPENSATION Salary is negotiable.
