Job Summary: The Sales Associate at Sweets of Grace is responsible for driving sales by providing exceptional customer service, sharing in-depth knowledge of our high-quality baked goods and curated bookstore selections, and ensuring a seamless transaction process. This role is essential in maintaining the visual appeal of our bookstore shelves and tables, assisting customers with product and book recommendations, and ensuring every visitor leaves with a positive impression of our brand and offerings. The ideal candidate is passionate about both food and literature, creating a welcoming environment where customers can enjoy delicious treats while discovering their next favorite read. Supervisory Responsibilities: No. Duties & Responsibilities: Greet every customer warmly and provide proactive assistance to identify their needs and preferences. Maintain deep knowledge of all Sweets of Grace bakery products, including specialty dietary options (Vegan, Gluten-Free, Low-Glycemic) and seasonal offerings, as well as bookstore inventory, genres, and featured titles. Meet or exceed individual and team sales targets by effectively cross-selling and upselling complementary bakery items, books, or gift products. Accurately handle cash, credit card, and digital transactions using the Point of Sale (POS) system; process returns and exchanges for books and merchandise according to company policy. Restock shelves, tables, and bookstore inventory promptly to ensure a full and inviting appearance; maintain overall store cleanliness, including sweeping, sanitizing surfaces, and organizing book displays. Assist customers with placing special orders for bakery events (weddings, birthdays, corporate gatherings) and book-related requests (gift sets, special editions, or pre-orders). Receive and unpack shipments for bookstore inventory, update stock records, and notify management of low inventory levels. Follow all food safety, health, and retail regulations to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for staff and customers. Support bookstore promotions, organize featured displays, and provide recommendations for reading selections. Assist with author events, book signings, and community engagement activities hosted in the store space. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Skills & Abilities: Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Strong customer-focused mindset with a friendly and professional demeanor. Basic mathematical proficiency for accurate transaction handling. Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced retail environment. Proficiency with retail technology, including POS systems and inventory software Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred. Previous experience in retail sales or customer service preferred but not required. Physical Requirements: Ability to frequently remain in a stationary position. Ability to frequently move around the store to assist customers and restock items. Ability to lift and transport objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
