BRANCH SUPERVISOR YOUTH SERVICES - PRICE HILL BRANCH DATE POSTED: 5/8/26 POSITION SUMMARY: The Branch Supervisor - Youth Services assists in the daily leadership and oversight of branch location operations and services to youth. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Hires, supervises, directs, coaches, trains, mentors, and manages performance of employees to organizational goals and expectations. Adds value as a key member of management; understands the organization, financials, industry, customers, and strategy. Manages assigned budgets and resources effectively and efficiently; knows and understands organization’s financial position. Plans workflows for team, including scheduling and staffing for effective in-person public service. Leads branch youth services, including planning and conducting engaging programs, maintaining youth collection, and outreach to schools, community partners, and teachers. Performs reference and readers’ advisory services. Assists customers with various technologies. Assists customers with resumes, job searches, internet use, and basic computer usage. Interprets the Library’s policies and procedures to the public in a customer-friendly manner. Ensures public safety protocols are followed, including incident reporting and necessary follow-up. Resolves customer issues and complaints. Circulates materials to customers, including checking materials in and out, processing holds, registering customers, and collecting fees. Participates in the location’s shared responsibilities, including, but not limited to, desk set up, shelf reading, banking, and filling interagency requests. Prepares and deposits money from fees. Serves as the person in charge in the absence of leadership. Supports and advances the Library’s mission of connecting people with the world of ideas and information. Other duties as assigned. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of principles and practices of library service. Skill in customer service. Ability to plan and conduct programs for youth and family audiences. Ability to work independently and with coworkers in a wide variety of situations with minimal supervision. Ability to use all technology applicable to the essential functions of the job and commonly used by the Library. Lifting objects up to 50 pounds and carrying them short distances [50 feet or less] is required. Pushing carts of library materials up to 150 pounds is required. Working irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, is required. QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Master's Degree in Library and Information Science or commitment to completing the Community Leadership Program certificate within 24 months is required. Certifications or licensure: A driver's license and a driving record acceptable to the Library's insurance provider are required. Years of relevant experience: Two or more years is required.
