Job Description
About Brain Co. Brain Co. is an applied AI startup co-founded by Elad Gil, and backed by leading Silicon Valley builders including Patrick Collison and Andrej Karpathy. We are building AI applications for the world’s most important institutions, delivering impact on real-world problems across governments, healthcare systems, and critical industries. Our Progress So Far Automated construction permitting for a sovereign government → 80% faster, unlocking $375M+ in value Optimized supply chains for a leading global energy company → 30% lower cost, 99% reliability, preventing $100M+ in losses Streamlined hospital patient care across national health systems → 40% better outcomes, 80% less admin work Company Momentum Raised a $55M Series A from leading investors Built a team of 70+ AI experts from Tesla, Google DeepMind, NVIDIA, and Databricks At Brain Co., we focus on applying frontier AI to real institutional challenges, working alongside governments, healthcare systems, and critical industries to modernize how essential services operate. We are looking for leaders who want to help bring new technology into institutions that impact millions of people. About The Role We're looking for a designer who makes things at an exceptionally high level and moves fast without losing the standard. This is Brain Co.'s second brand design hire. You'll work closely with our first — together building the visual language of a company whose work reaches heads of state, health ministers, and institutional leaders across the world. Because we're a small team building something new, your craft decisions shape the system as much as operate within it. The way you solve a diagram or handle a data story becomes the reference point. In the near term, the highest-leverage surface is client presentations: the materials that introduce Brain Co. to senior leaders and carry complex AI systems into rooms where major decisions get made. These are the first impressions of a company doing serious work, and they need to look like it. Over time, this role expands across every surface Brain Co. shows to the world: the website, marketing materials, product storytelling, and print. What You'll Do Design and produce client-facing presentations that make complex AI systems feel clear and credible to executive and government audiences Build a modular slide system and component library that lets the team scale quality without degrading it Translate dense technical and operational content into visual structures — diagrams, process flows, data visualizations, information hierarchies — that earn trust at a glance Work within and extend Brain Co.'s visual language across new surfaces, with enough taste and rigor that your decisions become the standard Operate in Figma at a high level: clean architecture, reusable components, well-organized files that others can actually use Catch what others miss — spacing, weight, contrast, rhythm — and fix it before anyone notices it was wrong What We're Looking For A portfolio of finished, shipped work at a high craft level — not concepts, not mood boards Strong instincts in typography, layout, and visual hierarchy; the ability to make dense information feel effortless Experience designing materials for executive or institutional audiences — you understand that credibility is a design problem The ability to produce polished work quickly without treating speed as an excuse Deep Figma fluency: components, variables, auto-layout A background that includes companies with high design bars — the kind of place where "good enough" was never the answer Why Join Us Your work will be seen by some of the most senior decision-makers in the world — and it will matter to whether they say yes At 70 people, there's no design bureaucracy between you and impact. Leadership sees your work directly and moves on it You'll help build a visual language from near-zero, which means your instincts have real permanence Competitive compensation and meaningful Series A equity
