Building Inspector

JOB Position Objective: The Building Inspector inspects initial construction and additional repairs to ensure adherence to building ordinances and zoning laws. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Essential Functions: Reviews building permits to assure compliance with zoning ordinance requirements.Inspect structures to ensure they meet code and comply with ordinances and zoning laws.Examine plans to ensure structure complies with building codes.Inspect work sites to identify potential environmental or safety hazards.Prepares correspondence and notices of violations.Provides technical assistance and information to staff and the public in the administration of building ordinances.Perform related duties as assigned by supervisorMaintain compliance with all County policies and procedures SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION Working Environment: Work is performed indoors in an office where noise and interruptions often occur and outdoors work where the employee is exposed to weather conditions (50/50).Overtime hours may be required to meet project deadlines.Some travel may be required for training and meetings.Safe use of mobile devices in the field is required.Occasionally work in hazardous locations.
