Job SummaryWe are seeking a dedicated and responsible individual to join the Wauseon Exempted Village School District as a full-time Bus Driver. The ideal candidate will ensure the safe and efficient transportation of students to and from school, extracurricular activities, and special events. This role requires excellent driving skills, a commitment to safety, and a passion for working with children in a school environment.Job Details-Starting date: 2026-2027 school year-August 19, 2026 starting day-Approximately 4.5 hours per day (6:00 a.m.-8:15 a.m./1:45 p.m.-4:00 p.m.)-15 accrued Sick Days/year (maximum 250 days)-03 Personal Days-State Employee Retirement System membershipResponsibilities- Safely operate a school bus on designated routes, ensuring timely arrival and departure. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus to ensure it is in safe operating condition. Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations, as well as school district policies and procedures. Maintain a clean and well-organized bus interior. Assist students in boarding and exiting the bus, ensuring their safety at all times. Monitor student behavior and enforce rules to promote a safe and respectful environment on the bus. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff regarding transportation issues. Report any mechanical issues or incidents to the appropriate authorities promptly. Attend training sessions and meetings as required to stay updated on safety protocols and regulations. Complete necessary paperwork related to bus operations and student transportation.Requirements- High school diploma or equivalent. Valid commercial drivers license (CDL) with a passenger endorsement. Clean driving record with no major violations. Previous experience driving a bus or working with children is preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations. Must pass a background check and drug screening. Availability to work early mornings, afternoons, and occasional evenings as needed. Physical ability to assist students and perform necessary tasks related to bus operation.
