Job Description
Performance Foodservice is seeking a Business Development Manager – Broadline Foodservice to grow regional sales and expand our presence with independent and multi-unit restaurant operators, hospitality groups, and other foodservice customers. As part of our Sales & Business Development team, you will focus on winning new accounts, deepening relationships with existing customers, and driving profitable growth across a broadline portfolio that includes center-of-the-plate items, dry goods, frozen foods, disposables, and other food-related products. In this role, you will proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities within an assigned territory, leveraging your knowledge of the foodservice industry and local market trends. You will conduct prospecting calls and in-person visits, build a strong pipeline of qualified leads, and convert those leads into long-term customers for Performance Foodservice. Partnering closely with culinary and category specialists, you will consult with operators on menu development, product mix optimization, pricing strategies, and profitability, helping them improve both guest satisfaction and financial performance. You will serve as the primary point of contact for your customers, ensuring exceptional service and responsiveness. This includes understanding each account’s operations, menu, purchasing patterns, and growth goals, and then aligning Performance Foodservice’s 150,000+ product offerings and value-added programs to meet those needs. You will prepare and deliver customized sales presentations, conduct product demonstrations and tastings, coordinate with internal teams to resolve service or delivery issues, and negotiate contracts and pricing within established guidelines. Success in this position requires strong B2B sales skills, a consultative approach, and a track record of meeting or exceeding revenue and margin targets. You will analyze sales reports, monitor account performance, and adjust your strategies to maximize volume, mix, and profitability. You will maintain accurate, up-to-date information in CRM systems, forecast sales, and provide regular updates on market conditions, competitive activity, and customer feedback. Collaboration is critical: you will work closely with sales leadership, operations, procurement, and marketing to execute regional initiatives and support new product launches. The culture at Performance Foodservice emphasizes team-oriented environments where innovation and customer service are highly valued. As a Regional Sales Consultant-level contributor within our organization, you will be expected to share best practices, participate in ride-alongs, trainings, and sales meetings, and represent the company at industry events, food shows, and customer-facing promotions. This position is field-based, with frequent on-site visits to customer locations and periodic travel within the assigned region. We are looking for candidates with solid experience in food & beverage or foodservice distribution sales, particularly those who understand broadline products, restaurant operations, and the decision-making processes of owners, chefs, and purchasing managers. A results-driven mindset, strong communication and negotiation skills, and comfort working in a fast-paced, competitive environment are essential. In return, Performance Foodservice offers a competitive base salary with commission opportunity, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, 401(k) retirement benefits, and significant room for professional growth and advancement within a leading national food distributor.
