Compensation: up to $160,000 - $200,000 + equity Contract: FTE Working style: hybrid, San Francisco About the job Hawkwood is partnering with one of the most exciting frontier AI companies in the market to hire a Business Sourcer into their San Francisco Talent team. Our client is building open-weight foundational AI models for enterprise and public sector use. Their work sits at the intersection of frontier AI, scaled infrastructure, and highly sensitive enterprise use cases, where control, security, and trust really matter. The business has raised significant capital, is backed by some of the most respected investors in the ecosystem, and has assembled a deeply impressive team with backgrounds from leading AI labs and technology companies. As the company continues to scale, they are hiring a Business Sourcer to help build exceptional pipelines across G&A, GTM, and business-critical functions. This person will partner closely with recruiters, hiring leaders, and senior stakeholders to identify, engage, and nurture high-caliber passive talent across the functions that will help the company scale. This is an exciting opportunity for a thoughtful, creative, and high-ownership sourcer who is energized by talent mapping, candidate engagement, and helping build the business teams. What you’ll be doing Own top-of-funnel sourcing for business-critical roles across functions such as Finance, People, Legal, Operations, Sales, Marketing, Partnerships, and Business Development Partner closely with recruiters and hiring leaders to understand hiring needs, define target profiles, and translate business requirements into focused search strategies Build thoughtful market maps across high-growth technology companies, AI labs, venture-backed businesses, and adjacent talent ecosystems Identify, engage, and nurture exceptional passive candidates through tailored outreach and relationship-led sourcing Act as a strategic sourcing partner, bringing market insight, talent intelligence, and candidate perspective to hiring teams Develop high-quality pipelines for priority roles, with a focus on quality, precision, and long-term talent relationships rather than volume Track sourcing activity, response rates, conversion rates, and pipeline health to continuously improve sourcing effectiveness Represent the company’s mission, ambition, and talent density with credibility in every candidate interaction What we’re looking for Strong track record identifying and engaging passive candidates across functions such as Finance, People, Legal, Operations, Sales, Marketing, Partnerships, or Business Development Experience working in fast-paced, high-growth technology, AI, deep tech, or venture-backed startup environment Strong ability to build targeted search strategies, market maps, and talent pipelines beyond standard keyword searches Excellent candidate engagement skills, with the ability to craft compelling outreach and build trust with high-caliber passive talent Strong business acumen and curiosity about how different functions contribute to company-building Confidence working with ambiguity, moving quickly, and bringing structure to a rapidly scaling environment Highly organized, detail-oriented, and metrics-driven, with a strong understanding of sourcing conversion and pipeline quality Someone who is excited by frontier AI, high talent density environments, and the opportunity to help build business functions from an early stage The offer Competitive compensation and equity Opportunity to join one of the most ambitious frontier AI companies at a rare stage of growth Broad ownership across business sourcing for G&A and operational functions Exposure to an exceptionally high-caliber team and hiring environment A role with clear impact on how the company scales during a critical phase of growth We recognize how challenging this current job market is for candidates, and Hawkwood are therefore striving to provide the best candidate experience we can.
