Location: Minneapolis, MN Salary: $55,000.00 USD Annually - $65,000.00 USD Annually Description BUYER / PLANNER On-site position in Minneapolis, MN The Buyer/Planner position in our purchasing department plays a critical role in ensuring the right materials are available at the right time to support dynamic and often unpredictable customer demand. This position requires a proactive, data-driven approach to planning and inventory management, balancing service levels with cost efficiency. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, collaborates cross-functionally, and leverages systems and analytics to drive results. Key Responsibilities Analyze historical usage, customer forecasts, and market trends to develop material plans that align with demand variability. Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, and Engineering to anticipate shifts in demand and adjust plans accordingly. Align material availability with production schedules and customer delivery commitments. Support kitting, staging, and replenishment activities for engineered assemblies and configured products. Maintain accurate planning parameters in ERP systems (lead-times, lot sizes, MOQ, etc). Drive continuous improvement in planning processes, tools, and metrics. Serve as a key liaison between Supply Chain, Operations, Sales, and Engineering to ensure alignment of priorities and timelines. Participate in SIOP (Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning) meetings and contribute to scenario planning. Qualifications APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM or CSCP) is required Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field; or five (5) plus years of practical material and inventory planning experience is recommended. 2-3 years of experience in material planning, inventory control, or production planning – preferably in a distribution or engineered products environment. Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems, Epicor Prophet 21 experience preferred. Proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools; ability to interpret trends and drive decisions. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
