As a Cabling Technician Co-op, you will work closely with our technicians gaining valuable experience through hands-on installation of cabling infrastructure, premise security and audio/video disciplines. Effective co-ops will have the ability to communicate with impact, have strong self-awareness, and will be naturally inquisitive. Job Functions Installing pathways and low-voltage cabling in new or existing buildings. Termination of new cabling. Testing and troubleshooting of cable. Mounting network racks and cabinets. Mounting and positioning network and surveillance equipment. Professional Skills Superior work ethic and uncompromising attention to detail. Must be eager to learn, self-motivated, flexible, accountable and can effectively handle multiple tasks at one time. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each job function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Strong computer skills and be able to demonstrate good writing skills. Ability to work on a ladder for extended periods of time. Ability to routinely lift 50 lbs. or more. Ability to operate hand and power tools appropriately. Education Current High School Student 3.0 GPA or above 2-weeks working/40-hour work week; 2-weeks attending school A professional, neat appearance is expected. A casual, outgoing personality is appreciated. You MUST be able to pass a government CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK, DRUG SCREEN, have RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION and possess a VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE or STATE IDENTIFICATION. Physical Demands This position requires physical activity consistent with a construction or installation environment. The employee will spend more than two-thirds of their time standing, kneeling, crouching, stooping, using hands to handle or feel, and reaching with hands and arms. Approximately one-third of the time may be spent walking and engaging in verbal communication or listening. Frequent lifting and moving of materials weighing between 25 and 50 pounds is required. Work Environment This role may involve travel to project sites and exposure to a variety of environmental conditions. These may include outdoor weather, proximity to forklifts or other heavy machinery, and the use of hand tools or hardware. Employees may be subject to frequent heavy lifting and other physical demands typical of a construction or warehouse environment.
