Job Summary The Early Childcare Development Center (ECDC) is seeking a detail-oriented and organized CACFP Food Coordinator to oversee and manage all aspects of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). This individual will help ensure children receive nutritious meals that meet USDA guidelines while maintaining compliance with all state and federal CACFP regulations. At ECDC, our mission is to provide high-quality early childhood education in a nurturing environment that supports literacy, school readiness, and healthy development for every child we serve. You would be responsible for planning, preparing, and serving nutritious meals and snacks that meet the guidelines of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). This role also oversees all CACFP-related documentation and compliance, ensuring accurate meal counts, menu planning, and reporting. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about supporting children's health through nutritious food service. Key Responsibilities: Meal Preparation & Kitchen Duties Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and snacks according to the CACFP-approved menu and meal pattern requirements. Ensure proper food portioning for all age groups based on CACFP guidelines. Maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen, storage, and food prep areas. Follow proper procedures for food storage, temperature control, and kitchen safety. Monitor and maintain inventory; notify the Administrator when supplies need replenishment. CACFP Compliance & Coordination Develop and maintain monthly menus in accordance with CACFP nutritional standards. Accurately complete and maintain daily meal production records, attendance sheets, and food temperature logs. Ensure all food components and quantities served meet CACFP requirements. Coordinate with the CACFP sponsor/monitor during reviews, audits, and onsite visits. Stay up to date with CACFP guidelines and ensure the center remains in full compliance. Submit timely and accurate monthly claims and paperwork in collaboration with the Administrator. Training & Collaboration Train new staff members on food handling procedures and CACFP portioning and service requirements. Communicate with teachers to ensure meals align with classroom schedules and children’s dietary needs. Assist with planning for special dietary accommodations or food allergies as needed. Support parent communication related to nutrition and CACFP when required. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; culinary training or food service certification preferred. At least 1 year of experience in food service, preferably in a childcare, school, or institutional setting. Knowledge of CACFP guidelines and meal pattern requirements. ServSafe Food Handler certification (or ability to obtain upon hire). Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
