Caddo Parish Library Substitute Belcher-Wyche, Blanchard, Gilliam, Higginbotham- Bryson (Greenwood), Hosston, Means (Ida), Mooringsport, North Caddo (Vivian), Oil City, and Rodessa Branches SUMMARY Under periodic supervision, this individual is responsible for a variety of tasks involving public service. Employees will acquire skills needed through on-the-job training. This individual would substitute as needed in all branches during all hours that the branches are open. This individual performs related and other work as required. REQUIREMENTS Minimum Training and Experience High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred Training and Experience Paid customer service work experience involving frequent interactions with the public. Experience planning and/or presenting programs, utilizing books, crafts and/or other activities, to appropriate audiences is preferred. Experience working in library. Highly Desirable Training and Experience Successful completion of college coursework. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Good knowledge of current technology. Ability to: Use Dewey Decimal system; use integrated library system, and electronic and printed materials, resources and databases; learn and follow library principles, policies and procedures; understand and follow written and oral instructions; use resourcefulness, tact, courtesy, and respect in dealing professionally with library patrons, employees, and vendors; make decisions based on established policies and practices; create and maintain courteous, pleasant impressions of the library; establish good patron and staff rapport; deal with multiple and extra unexpected tasks and patrons simultaneously; plan and present programs to targeted audience.
