PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION The Cafe Cook is responsible for maintaining the operations of the café kitchen. He/she prepares and serves food and drinks, maintains a safe and clean kitchen and surrounding area, and ensures customers receive a quality product. The Cafe Cook must exhibit the highest level of professionalism and maintain a positive attitude, always upholding the Club’s core values: Integrity, Caring, Creativity, Passion and Excellence. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES Personal Responsibilities Arrive to work on time and work scheduled hours Record hours worked, through club payroll system Wear proper uniform Cafe Duties and Responsibilities: Makes, prepares, and serves food according to club’s recipes, unless intervention with personal creativity is required Prepare all menu items with consistency, using proper portion controls Use café and kitchen equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions Ring in all café sales, unless counter person is on duty Perform opening and closing procedures for the café, as the shift requires Receive & verify deliveries Responsible for keeping all items stocked Responsible for recording spoilage and promo items Responsible for keeping café and kitchen area safe and clean Responsible for following all Health Department standards and requirements Maintain safe environment and report all safety issues and concerns immediately Enforce rules and policies at all times Communicate with management regarding any issues that arise Carry out other duties as assigned by managers Required Certifications & Attendance: Maintain current American Red Cross certification in adult/child/infant CPR/AED, including annual refresher course Maintain current Food Handlers certification Attend All-Call meetings, Cafe Department meetings, and one-on-one meetings Recommended Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Highly motivated and energetic Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Organizational skills Strong attention to detail Ability to multi-task An understanding of food and beverage operations Team player, willing to cover or trade shifts when possible Able to work days, evenings, and weekends as necessary HOURS, BENEFITS & POLICIES Hours The Cafe Cook position is a full or part-time seasonal position, non-exempt position. Cafe hours 11am-7pm, five days a week. As a non-exempt employee, the Cafe Staff shall not exceed 40 hours per week (in all departments combined) without prior written permission from the Cafe Manager. Benefits This is a seasonal position starting May thru September. Benefits as defined in the CAC Employee Benefits Schedule. Pay $17.34 Policies The Cafe Staff position is governed by the policies and values contained in the California Athletic Clubs Employee Handbook. Job Type: Part-time Pay: $17.34 per hour
