About the Role The Huntley Santa Monica Beach is seeking a friendly, energetic, and reliable Café Team Member / Barista to join our café team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hospitality, works well in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in creating a warm, welcoming experience for guests. As a Café Team Member / Barista, you will prepare and serve coffee, espresso drinks, teas, specialty beverages, and light food items such as sandwiches, pastries, and grab-and-go offerings. You will also assist guests, process transactions, maintain a clean and organized café, and help ensure each guest receives prompt, polished, and attentive service. We are looking for individuals with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn. Prior café, barista, restaurant, hotel, or food service experience is preferred, but we are also open to training the right candidate. Responsibilities Greet guests warmly and provide friendly, attentive service. Prepare and serve coffee, espresso drinks, teas, specialty beverages, and other café drinks according to established recipes and standards. Prepare, heat, assemble, and serve light food items such as sandwiches, pastries, and grab-and-go offerings. Take guest orders accurately and answer questions about menu items. Operate the POS system, including Micros POS, to process transactions accurately and efficiently. Handle cashiering duties, including payments, basic math, and proper transaction handling. Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked café and service area. Restock cups, lids, napkins, condiments, food items, and other café supplies as needed. Follow proper food handling, preparation, sanitation, and safety procedures. Monitor product quality and communicate any issues with food, beverage, or supplies to management. Manage time effectively during busy periods while maintaining quality, speed, and professionalism. Work closely with team members to support smooth café operations. Respond to guest questions, requests, or concerns with patience and professionalism. Complete opening, running, and closing side work as assigned. Complete additional tasks as assigned by management. Qualifications Previous barista, café, restaurant, hotel, cashier, or food service experience preferred. Coffee and espresso drink experience preferred, but not required for the right candidate. Food preparation or sandwich assembly experience preferred. Experience with POS systems, including Micros POS, preferred. Strong communication and guest service skills. Friendly, professional, and dependable demeanor. Ability to stay calm, organized, and efficient in a fast-paced environment. Basic math skills and ability to handle transactions accurately. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Understanding of food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling procedures. Team-oriented attitude with a willingness to assist wherever needed. Reliable, punctual, and committed to high service standards. Willingness to learn and grow within the café, restaurant, and hotel environment. Physical Requirements This position requires standing and walking for extended periods, working comfortably in a busy café environment, occasionally bending, reaching, lifting, carrying items, and communicating clearly with guests and team members throughout service.
