Grand Hyatt San Francisco is seeking a dependable and service-oriented Cafeteria Attendant to join our Culinary team. This role is responsible for supporting the colleague dining experience by setting up, maintaining, serving, and breaking down the employee cafeteria. The Cafeteria Attendant helps ensure that food and beverage items are presented properly, service areas remain clean and organized, and all sanitation and food safety standards are consistently followed. This position plays an important role in creating a welcoming, clean, and efficient dining environment for hotel colleagues. Key Responsibilities Set up, maintain, and break down the employee cafeteria and food service lines for scheduled meal periods. Display hot and cold food items according to hotel standards and direction from culinary leadership. Greet and serve hotel colleagues in a courteous, professional, and efficient manner. Monitor food quality, presentation, temperature, and replenishment needs throughout service. Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of the cafeteria, dining room, service stations, and equipment. Wipe down tables, counters, service areas, and dining surfaces throughout the shift. Stock and replenish coffee, soda, condiments, silverware, glassware, china, utensils, paper goods, and other supplies as needed. Receive food from the kitchen and place items in designated holding areas at proper temperatures. Return unused food to designated storage areas according to hotel and Health Department procedures. Clean and sanitize service lines, beverage stations, soda machines, counters, equipment, and other assigned areas. Remove trays, dishes, and soiled wares from dining areas and separate items at breakdown stations. Restock service areas and prepare the cafeteria for the next meal period. Report maintenance issues, equipment concerns, safety hazards, food shortages, or supply needs to leadership. Assist with inventories, special colleague events, holiday setups, and other cafeteria-related duties as assigned. Follow all hotel, departmental, safety, sanitation, and food handling standards. This is an hourly position with a compensation of $34.78 per hour. This is also a temporary position. Nothing contained herein shall prohibit the filling of a posted job vacancy on a temporary basis for thirty (30) days or less. Qualifications Good communication skills required. Positive and professional approach with coworkers and internal customers. Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, organization, and service quality. Ability to work efficiently with moderate supervision and training. Ability to follow directions, prioritize tasks, and adapt under pressure. Food handling certificate or ability to obtain required certification. Previous food service, cafeteria, restaurant, culinary, stewarding, or hospitality experience preferred. Knowledge of food handling, sanitation, and proper storage procedures preferred. Ability to perform basic arithmetic and complete simple documentation, logs, or checklists as needed. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays. Must be able to stand and walk for the duration of the shift. Must have the physical stamina to lift, push, pull, and transport moderate amounts of weight. Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and perform repetitive movements throughout the shift.
