Brief Description The Calibration Technician is responsible for coordinating and managing calibration, repair, and purchase activities for measurement and inspection equipment through approved external vendors. This role serves as the primary liaison between internal stakeholders and external service providers to ensure equipment remains compliant, traceable, and available to support manufacturing, quality, and engineering operations. While this position performs limited internal calibrations, the primary focus is vendor coordination, documentation, and system oversight. Key Responsibilities Coordinate external calibration and repair of measurement, diagnostic, and inspection equipment, including scheduling equipment downtime, off-site shipments, and on-site vendor support. Use the calibration management system (GageTrak) to plan service activities and maintain equipment status, service history, and calibration frequencies and due dates. Select appropriate external service providers; request, review, and manage vendor quotations for calibration, repair, and equipment services and ensure use of vendors on our ASL for calibration services. Serve as the primary point of contact for external calibration and repair vendors, providing coordination, status updates, and issue resolution. Collaborate with internal stakeholders across manufacturing, quality, engineering, inspection, shipping/receiving, and purchasing to minimize production impact. Coordinate the purchase of new and replacement measurement and inspection equipment, including vendor selection, purchase requisitions, receipt verification, and issue resolution. Verify received equipment and documentation; enter assets into the calibration management system, apply calibration labels, and release equipment to manufacturing, quality, or engineering. Review, approve, and maintain calibration and repair records, certificates, quotes, and purchase documentation, and receipts as defined by QMS or at discretion of the supervisor to ensure traceability and compliance; escalate issues as needed. Perform limited internal calibration of designated items (e.g., mylars) in accordance with established procedures and intervals as assigned. Apply working knowledge of metrology principles, mechanical electronic and specialized gauging systems, drawings, and specifications to evaluate vendor services, certificates, and inspection requirements and determine acceptance or rejection. Requirements High School Diploma. Typically requires 3 to 5 years' experience using basic measuring tools. Working knowledge of calibration concepts, metrology principles, and mechanical electronic and specialized gauging systems. Experience coordinating external vendors or service providers is preferred. Familiarity with calibration management systems (GageTrak or equivalent) and ERP systems (Epicor preferred). Strong organizational, documentation, and follow-up skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to manage multiple service activities simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and compliance. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, sit, and walk between departments and buildings across campus locations. Transport equipment using carts or by hand; lifting of gauges and devices.
