Job Description
CDL-Licensed Test & Support Driver (Transit Vehicles) Position Summary The CDL-Licensed Test & Support Driver is responsible for operating transit vehicles in support of road testing, engineering validation, demonstrations, and special events. This role works closely with Engineering, Quality, and Program teams to ensure vehicles are safely operated, properly evaluated, and professionally presented during testing and customer-facing activities. 1st Shift Hours: 6:00am-2:30pm Key Responsibilities Vehicle Operation & Road Testing Operate transit buses and specialty vehicles in compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and company safety requirements Conduct engineering road tests, durability runs, and functional evaluations per test plans Provide real-time feedback to Engineering on vehicle performance, drivability, and operational issues Accurately complete road test logs, checklists, and driver feedback reports Engineering & Quality Support Support Engineering And Quality Teams During Vehicle validation testing Troubleshooting and root cause investigations Pre-delivery inspections and final sign-off activities Identify and report abnormalities, defects, or safety concerns immediately Support controlled testing activities under documented procedures (GDP-compliant) **Event & Demonstration Support Operate Vehicles For Customer demonstrations Trade shows Media events Internal and external ride-and-drive events Present vehicles professionally and follow all event safety and operational guidelines Support vehicle staging, transport coordination, and post-event inspection Safety & Compliance Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections in accordance with DOT and company requirements Maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with required endorsements Adhere to company policies, customer requirements, and ISO 9001 quality standards Report incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions immediately Documentation & Communication Complete all required documentation accurately and on time, including: Test logs Inspection forms Issue reports Event documentation Communicate clearly with Engineering, Quality, Program Management, and customers as needed Qualifications Required Skills:** Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger endorsement Clean driving record and ability to meet DOT medical requirements Experience operating transit buses, coaches, or heavy vehicles Strong attention to detail and safety awareness Ability to follow written procedures and test plans Physical & Work Environment Ability to sit for extended periods while driving Ability to climb steps, enter/exit vehicles frequently Occasional travel and extended work hours during testing or events Exposure to outdoor conditions during road testing and events Key Competencies Safety-focused mindset Clear written and verbal communication Professional customer interaction Attention to documentation accuracy Team collaboration across departments Equal Opportunity Employer ElDorado National California Inc.
