EXAMPLE OF DUTIES This Correctional Support Trades Supervisor I (CSTS I) is a Food Service (FS) Supervisor in a Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC) prison facility. Position oversees the production of meal services for an inmate population which could range from 600 to 7500 meals daily. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: ensuring the safety and security of the public, facility staff and inmates; ensuring efficient meal service to include medical and/or religious diets during assigned shift and supervising inmate work crews in daily kitchen operations; ensuring sanitation and compliance with all applicable regulations, standards and guidelines and ensuring appropriate use of resources and inventory. The FS Supervisor prepares inmates for community re-entry by promoting the Colorado Department of Corrections Mission and Vision while adhering to a high level of integrity and commitment.Safety & Security: Ensuring a safe and secure environment by managing training, keys, tools, chemicals, inmate counts, searches, escorts, movement, kitchen access, and the use of restraints/force.Operations: Overseeing the safe, compliant, and efficient production of food service, including meal prep, cooking, portioning, sanitation, managing menus/recipes (including various diets), supervising inmate workers, and controlling inventory/waste/expenses.Supervision: Training, supervising and hiring of inmate workers, enforcing work standards, creating schedules, conducting evaluations, monitoring hours/wages, and providing meaningful re-entry work experience.Sanitation & Compliance: Maintaining a sanitary workplace, ensuring proper food handling/hygiene, adhering to production procedures, maintaining equipment/cleanliness, and ensuring inmate adherence to all rules and guidelines.Budget/Inventory: Monitoring usage, expenses, and waste to maintain the budget, controlling waste/theft, tracking inventory levels, ordering goods, and checking deliveries.The position also notes that working conditions may require additional hours/shifts and involve working near industrial equipment in a loud environment, requiring training in self-defense, oleoresin capsicum use, and public safety radio operation.
